Harvey Lane Sykes
"Sykes, Teddy Bear, Gretzky"
“Before I go on about my personality let me start a little with my history.
I was born in the town of Saginaw, Michigan to a Canadian father who was coach of the OHL team Saginaw Spirit. We moved consistently from different Canadian cities after that when my father got a number of jobs across the Ontario Hockey League giving me duel Canadian/American citizenship. Growing up with hockey players my whole life it’s no surprise to anybody in my family when I started going up in the high leagues, especially with such a great manager, my father, behind me with all the high connections. What was a surprise to people was my love and admiration for music, classic rock in particular. At the age of only 8 I taught myself the acoustic guitar and then quickly moved onto new things. My father never approved because he felt the music I learned and wrote was a distraction from my career in hockey, along with made me look very gay around the other students who would tease me about it. None of them could stop my passion though and it never got in the way of my hockey. I just found the time for things such as school or family pushed to the side instead.
Getting drafted into the OHL during the first round draft to the team the Sue Saint Marie Greyhounds I was expected in a few years from that to become a first round draft pick in the NHL and become a professional hockey player. My life was set for me, even if bringing an electric guitar with headset to play it everywhere I went, singing constantly to myself, was a little weird. The players and coach were just glad I was always at the top of my game. Schooling was a joke; it was wireless Internet school on the bus from one game to another, although the teachers would just give us perfect on everything in order to pass us so we could keep playing focused. During my very long hours on constant bus rides I also spent my private time writing a rock opera musical on ice for my own amusement, unaware how far it would get me in the future.
Drafted by the LA kings in the first round draft pick I was given a very large signing bonus in the millions. Shortly after signing the bonus I received a career ending injury on my leg, I still have the limp and walk around with a cane on rainy weather days if I have to. I still keep my body in top shape and constantly work out even with the injury but could never play hockey again. Given a large signing bonus to begin with and then another early contract signing out bonus I had my life set for me with millions of dollars. Most would have gone and retired at the age of 18, anybodies dream. Instead I spent my millions of dollars on producing and directing a film out of the musical I wrote. Although I had no experience in film the crew I hired was highly experienced and taught me a lot. The musical was about junior hockey players going to win the memorial cup with a little romance mixed in between. The musical appealed to the male sports crowd and the female musical crowd, the perfect mix for both genders and all was a massive hit in the box office. I even received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song, although I was the underdog and didn’t win.
I then started to get to work on new projects, although most of the time it involved funding other film projects instead of directing my own, which is what I missed most. Because I’m such a personal guy on the red carpet, sexy from my previous hockey training, and made such a successful film Renegade Studios approached me about being a director after they heard I was going around pitches a few musical movie ideas to different film companies. I agreed, wanting to direct more and now I am anxious to get on set again and direct another musical.
Now that we got that set let me introduce myself formally, my name is Harvey Sykes. I hold a number of different personalities depending on the situation. Let me explain the three basic personalities.
The first personality is the personality that the media knows. The red carpet easygoing fun loving young guy full of energy. I love everybody, even if in private I hate them, and everything makes me laugh and smile. Nothing, even the worst of news, could turn me down. It’s a wonder I’m such an acclaimed director I seem to be happy about everything.
When on a film set everything is different. Nothing stands in the way between the picture I want to make perfect and me. If something does they face the wrath of hell. If everything goes the way I want it people are rewarded, even if it has to be in the future with another part. I despise working with diva’s who are impossible to work with, show up to set late, want everything special done for them, sometimes I can be nice and get them what they need but if they’re being that much of a pain in the ass. The point is I demand a lot for a perfect production and very details even obsessive about my work so I always take no for an answer.
Finally my last personality is my real personality. The one that all of my friends know about. I’m a fun guy to be around and although I like alcohol and parties I’d rather sit back and relax to a nice scotch on the rocks while casually talking with my friends the pound back at bottle of whiskey around a large group of people any day. I respect people for who they are but feel insulted for those that refuse to show me any respect. Still I love to constantly joke around, cause trouble, play pranks, or have a generally good time. Over all when I’m not directing I’m an extremely care free guy. The drama in my life is mostly caused from those around me, not by myself. I’m nowhere near typical and it’s hard for me to be categorized anywhere but my own category.
I ADORE music, specifically 60ies classic rock including The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane!, Bob Dylan, Mountain, Ect.. I play the electric guitar but I am also trained myself to play jazz guitar and a large number of musical interments including piano, brass, singing, and the harmonica. I also came close to a career in professional hockey and I’ll never admit it anywhere but here but I’m jealous and angry at the players to made it there when I came so close and then fell apart, still having the limp in my knee to prove it. Still I adore the NHL and keep special close attention to all NHL events, especially when my friends from the OHL are involved. Even if I’m envious of that I’m as happy as can be as a film director and focus my efforts on that now.
My biggest weakness is drugs. Ever since I discovered heroin it’s been hard for me to knock the habit. I’ve privately been to rehab a few times but dropped out quickly. Sometimes it really gets the worst out of me and it’s not getting any better. I love all drugs although I don’t find any of the addictive accept heroin."

River was a little confused by the seagull comment because he thought seagulls were everywhere in North American including Kansas but he desired to leave the comment alone as she was already up the tree at that point and he had to follow very shortly after that. When he made it into her room and waited for her when she heard that she didn't bite he nodded his head to acknowledge her. "Well if you do bite I'll just bite back. We could have a cannibal barbecue!.. inside your room..."
Going over towards her bed he sat on it and took off his shoes. The shoes were torn apart and looked old, the sole on his feet were worn out and he didn't like walking around in them when he could easily avoid it because they were so uncomfortable. When Cherry asked him the personal question he looked up at her while undoing his shoelaces on his second shoe that he was not taking off. "We'll I guess to be honest my house is a yelling match because my pathetic excuse for calling family of an aunt and my siblings are have been driven crazy by her because they have been living with her for a couple of years now. I'm usually in the middle yelling at them to both shut the fuck up and I was tired of it all so I left to go do something. In a pissed off mood I brought along a lead pipe I found in the garage and went to the smash the first thing that looked fun to smash, which happened to be a parking meter." That would explain why he was angry all the time. He couldn't even sleep at his house because of the constant yelling matches and sometimes even he would be involved it. It would be impossible for anybody not to take that attitude everywhere they went out of the house as well.
"I really don't want to dumb those problems on you though. It's nothing personal it's just that the arguments are pointless and talking about it to somebody else isn't going to get me any rest, just agitate me more." Even as he sat on the bed he was starting to get sleepy because of the peacefulness of the house. When he was outside the cool air kept him wide awake but this house was warm and comfortable, it made him want to pass out right away as he struggled to keep his eyes open. Not liking this he shifted in his seat to keep himself awake. It was very late, in fact early in the morning after all and they all had school the next day.
"I guess I should ask you the same. Why were you out in the middle of the street at night wearing a dark hood stalking people? Or am I just that good lookin'?" He winked to her with a smirk on his face after he said that.
