Sadie pulled out her laptop, pulling her coffee closer to her. As cliche as it was, the writer couldn't help but enjoy the atmosphere that Starbucks had for writing. Typically, a person could see the struggling artist bent over some sort of grueling project, groaning about their misfortune at Starbucks. But it was at this coffee shop - not this one in particular, but it's clone in Queens - that the writer had her start and when all else seemed to fail her, Starbucks was always faithful. Her constant venti iced caramel machiato with extra carmel and whipped cream sat by her side as she groaned and pressed the period on her laptop, holding the single key down.
"............................................................................" her computer read as she tried to remember where exactly her characters were headed only 13 hours before. Sleep and food did this to a girl, she forgot exactly where anything was headed and her characters continued to go back to their listless wanderings in a dark, dismal abyss. "Katya, what are you doing right now?" she sighed, asking herself just as much as the character that lived only in her mind and on her paper.
She ran her fingers through her hair, her curly locks getting caught around her fingers and loosening around them once more, giving way to her aggrivated habits. She moved the cursor slightly, pressing the small minimize icon in the corner and pulled up a game of Spider Solitaire. This wasn't writing, she knew that much, but not even the writer's nook at Renegade could help her right now. She was in a rutt and needed to get this script finished in 2 weeks. Writer's block was not her friend right now. Not when she was so close to crunch time.
Sadie brought the straw of her drink to her lips, taking a sip as the ice clinked soothingly against one another in it's plastic cell. "Distractions.." she said as she looked around the room, as if a distraction would literally pop out of the woodwork. The store was busy, like any other Starbucks in a busy place, the machines wirring as the drinks were made. The systematic calling of each drink blended effortlessly into the soft cooing of James Blunt as the sounds danced gently through the threshold of her mind. She needed a distraction and hopefully it would be one that was worthwhile - better than Spider Solitaire.

Life in Los Angeles at times was hectic, Haley rarely had a day off where she could just do as she please. But today was one of those days, that she had off that she could do as she please. And really, she did not want do much but just relax and be normal girl for once. Yeah, but normality was not the same for her as the other girls. Her normality was not too well define, even when she was not on the spotlight, Haley had to be her in toes and always keep in her toes because she never knew when the press could be around. And the last thing, she wanted was to have picture of her drooling or picking her boogers in the cover of the tabloids. It was not very flattering. She stopped her Aston Martin DB9 in front of the Starbucks and she smiled as she got off her car.Haley smiled as she entered the Starbucks, hopefully this time she would not be mobbed. But knowing her star power, she would not have such luck.As she stood in line, the girl was quickly mobbed by people especially teenage girls rushing up to her for autographs and pictures. She had managed to stop the Starbucks entirely with just her presence, such was price to pay to have fame in LA. Haley really did not mind, she loved the attention,it just sometimes it got overwhelming. The girl stood there taking pictures and signing autographs for her fan as she tried get away. Haley really was not use to just stopping stores, this was sort of new. But she was enjoying it. The girl really did not care, this was all good fun and she loved to be lavish by attention. As she made her way to the crowd, she continued smiling until she was finally free of the crowd, now she could finally be her drink. Haley smiled as she ordered her drink and just handed her American Express black card. As she look for an empty table, she smiled at the girl she though it was family. She smiled at her, "Arent you Sadie Gonzalez from Queens?"

Sadie looked up from her computer, a heated game of single colored Spider Solitaire that she was losing epically going unnoticed, as the Starbucks started to go up in some sort of commotion or another. This was Los Angeles, stars needed to drink, so Sadie assumed it was the next Orlando Bloom or Brad Pitt walking in and just left it at that. The crowd was too thick to see into, and no matter how lucky she was to catch a glimpse of this star chances that she knew the person personally or even knew them at all were slim to none. She was cool in the independent film world - not the Hollywood scene, that just wasn't where she was... yet. With a sigh she put her feet up on the seat across the table of her, pulling the script back up on her screen and reading through the two pages she had done last. Her characters were talking.. like always - but what they were talking about seemed to go in one ear and out the other for the writer. This was the worst case of writer's block she had had in years.. what was going on? Sadie took another sip of her drink, as she tugged gently at the sleeve of her light, bright blue sweater dress. Her hand moved from the drink to her bracelets, spinning them around her small wrist quickly, clanging quietly - almost inaudibly in comparison to the racket that the celebrity was causing. How she longed for that sort of fame - how she wanted to be like Diablo Cody, known by face for her works... she wanted to be an individual. She was startled out of her blank stare at the script in front of her by the calling of her name. Sadie looked up at a familiar and missed face with a quiet gasp. "Haley!" she said quietly, surprised as she stood from her seat and threw her arms around the girl. "I can't believe it! I didn't think you'd go to Starbucks.. especially not this one, not the one that I'm at. This is amazing! How are you?" It had been a while since she had seen the girl that stood next to her - the girl that she literally thought of as a sister, as her other half. They were so close, and Sadie was so proud of her recent popularity. "Sit down," she said, smiling and motioning to the seat across from her as she sat down and closed her laptop, pushing it out of the way. "Tell me about things." This was like an amazing dream, her day certainly could not get any better.

In LA,there were few places that Haley could go without being recognize.Usually, she waited on the car and got one of her people to buy her coffee so she did not have to deal with the social pressure. But Haley like to have fun and just be normal girl, not have all the security around her all the time or even sent her people to go buy her things. In her mind, she was just normal college girl that had just gotten lucky and made it big.Even if that not what the magazines, made her out to be, but Haley did not think her parents fame helped her out at all. She was still normal LA girl and would always be no matter how much fame, she had.
Haley smiled as she sat with Sadie at the table.Oh,how much she missed her best friend. The last time, she had seen the girl,Haley was still high school senior in the Upper East Side of NY.After graduation, she had lost contact with her friend from Queens, she knew that the girl was struggling writer but did not think she would find her way to LA.Not everybody wanted to come to LA because it was hard to break it in the city unless you had connections. And one thing,Haley had was connections that she could use to help her friends out.
She laughed at her friend and just took a sip of her latte. Haley just looked around, "I'm not one to usually go Starbucks by myself, you saw commotion I cause. I usually sent my publicist or even my personal assistant to get me my coffee but I had an off-day today,so I decided to come to buy it myself."She paused,"Things are good, I love LA.Now I'm working on my second album and promoting my IT Girl fashion line. Also working on a movie."She smiled as she put the card of X-treme Production on the table and looked at her friend, "If you need any work, call my Daddy he might be able help you out."

Sadie chuckled at Haley; she went on to do great things, her fame was so startling, so amazing but Sadie expected it out of her friend. If anyone could make it big in this world, it was Haley. She had true star ability. She had the personality, the looks, the voice, the smile - hell, she was everything that Sadie wasnt and then everything that Sadie was too. Haley was, to put it simply, supergirl. How she had lost contact with supergirl was far beyong Sadie's comprehension. They were as tight as a well-knit scarf in the blistering New York winters; they had been as well-known as Peanut Butter and Jelly. But here they were, the two girls who had once been thick as theives, playing the catch up game. It so wasn't fair.
With joking eyes, widened in feigned surprise, Sadie said incredulously, "That was you that cause all that comotion? I could have sworn that Rob Pattinson had just walked off of the set of Twilight - no matter how far away it may be - and decided to kiss every girl in this particular Starbucks." With a soft chuckle and a shake of her head, she continued, "You really have everything going for you, Haley. You are so lucky. But you deserve it. And I can totally tell you're still the same girl I was friends with... am friends with," she tried, furrowing her brow as she tried to figure it out. They were still friends, right? Of course they were. They didn't have a big fight or anything, they just grew apart. They had plenty of time to get back to the level they had been on - finishing each other's sentences and trading clothes in the bathroom.
"Wow," she muttered impressed. That was a level of fame Sadie had never dreamt of, and of course her best friend was the one who acheived it. The strangest things really do happen in life. "I'm impressed.. congrats," she said. It was all stuff that Sadie could get out of the tabloids, but for some reason it all seemed so much more real hearing it out of the mouth of the girl she had known so well.
Sadie took the card gently in her hands and looked at it, a smile dancing across her face. This was what she needed, her in. But she didn't know if she wanted to ride on the coattails of her best friend's father. They had, of course, promised to help each other out someday and maybe this was the time they had both prophesized of. "Wow, thanks. This will come in handy," she said, flicking the card gently and placing it on top of her laptop with a smile. Her future sat right there on that card.. it was unbelievable. With a chuckle she shook her head, "For some reason I don't think he'll be impressed by me.. Sundance is a totally different atmosphere from Hollywood. Individuality is treasured there, conformity is what's needed most here." Shaking her head, she smiled again, "Wow, I still can't believe it.. it's YOU of all people!"

It was just another day in LA for her, sure every day seemed like the other one.But things today had change, she had found her one of lost friends. Sadie was just more than a friend, she was her other half, the girl was like a fourth sister. It was so good to have somebody living in the same town as her, that she could trust so much and just be there for her.In truth,Haley loved her Fab 5 friends but she needed somebody like Sadie that could put her back to Earth when her ego got the best of her.She took sip of her latte and just smiled,it was one of the happiest day for the girl so far.
Haley blushed as she looked at her friend, she looked away and just took sip of her latte."Yeah,it was me that cause of the commotion,it is sometimes very hard to go anywhere in LA without being mobbed.Especially after one makes cover of Tiger Beat and models her own line of teenage girl clothing call It Girl.I must tell you this fame stuff sometimes is overwhelming."She smiled at her as she continue drinking Latte.Life in Los Angeles was harder than people though, she just wished at times it could slow down and Haley could be just old plain Haley.
She smiled at Sadie as she looked around the room,Haley still felt all the eyes fixed upon her.Sure, she was used to it but she was slightly uncomfortable with it right now,she wanted to have private conversation with her friend and that was not happening at the moment.Haley smiled at Sadie, "Don't worry, just call my Father he can help you out.Why you surprise is me out of all the people."She paused,"So tell me about your life. The last time I saw you,I was private school girl living in Upper East Side of Manhattan."

Sadie smirked, no matter what Haley said she knew that she was sort of used to the fame at this point. Yes, it's hard getting used to having every little bit of your life examined by strangers. But Haley was the type of girl that was popular for just being her back in New York, she was watched just because she was so amazing - now she was popular on a much larger scale. She knew for a fact, though, that if anyone could find reason to long for a normal life again - Haley would be that girl too.
What had she been doing since she last saw Haley? There was always the more personal side of things - the boys she loved andlost, the friends she hurt, the family members that she grew away from - but that wasn't proper 'Starbucks in front of a gaping group of strangers' material. And then there was the more business side of things, which was probably what she was expecting out of things.
"Well," she said, taking a sip of her drink. "You remember how I was doing all of those movies all the time while we were in high school?" she said, knowing the nod that would follow the question. "Well, you probably remember that one that won that award?" Again she expected a nod, they were so close that this was stuff that wouldn't go unnoticed - if they noticed when one another got a trim, this was certainly a high point. "Well, after that I kept writing screenplays and, you probably didn't hear this since you have so much work to do, I won an award at the Sundance Film Festival for one of them. I'm moved out here not too long after that, probably two and a half years ago, and I've been working at Renegade since then. Haven't had a big break yet, outside of some pretty big movies on the independent film circuit, but I'm working on it."
She wanted - nee, deserved - to be recognized for her works and she just longed for that day to come quicker. "Nothing too amazing, at least not as amazing as you," she said with a slight shrug. Sadie had the capability of going out for the night without being recognized and stalked by the paparazzi, Haley was - unfortunately - not as lucky.

Life in New York at best was blur, she lived too fast at times or when she tried slow down, she got caught up once again the fast lifestyle.Yeah, there were drug addictions, alcohol parties and anything a wild teenage with money could get away with. Haley still wonder how she survive New York and still lived to tell the story. But she guess, that she was a lucky girl and there were bigger plans for her than dying in NY from drug overdose. After coming out of rehab, she had stayed away from drugs but not the drinking, she liked her alcohol a little bit too much.
Haley now hanging out in LA was different thing, she lived large and flashy. She loved the fame even though she had been born with silver spoon now that she had graduate from high school, she could enjoy it even more. Haley loved NY but seriously LA had different flavor to it that the girl enjoyed. She smiled at Sadie as she took sip of her drink.
"Girly, that so cool I'm like so happy for you.Now you should set your sights in bigger price,The Oscars."She smiled as she took drink of her latte. Haley knew that her friend had the talent to make it in Hollywood, she just needed some connections. And she was willing to give them to her so she could break into the movie industry.
Haley smiled at her,"Seriosuly my life is not that amazing.Probably yours is more amazing than mine."She sight as she took drink of her latte and looked around the coffee house.

"The Oscars," Sadie said with a smirk, nodding slightly at the thought. It sounded good on her lips. Sadie Gonzales, Oscar winning writer. The amount of money and prestige that came from a title like that was astounding. She really liked the sound of that - a ton. "I would love that." It was actually what she wanted to do with her life, but everyone back in Queens laughed at her - a little girl, daughter of a teacher and a plumber - would never make it to the Oscars. But she definately got the last laugh when she won the Sundance Award... even though that made no difference for so many of those people. But the only way she could think of getting to the Oscars was by having an amazing Sundance winning screenplay, then and only then would she make it. Because it didn't seem like any producer thought her quirky scripts were major film worthy yet. She didn't have a Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist in the works - only Little Miss Sunshines.
Sadie scoffed, "Your daddy can give you anything you want, your fame anything he can't and you're saying my life is more amazing. I think you're soarly mistaken Daddy's Girl," Sadie chuckled, flicking a leftover package of sugar from the tea she had before the iced cappucino. Somehow, the more time she spent with Haley the more like normal she felt. The more she felt like they were back in NYC at a corner bakery, giggling over a shared cheesecake rather than coffee at a Starbucks in LA in front of a group of fans.
She noticed as Haley looked around the room and grabbed her laptop off of the table top, putting it in her brown messenger bag that hung on the back of her chair. She wrapped up the charger and placed her wallet into the bag as well, standing up and smiling down at Haley. "I see you're having a bit of trouble avoiding the papparazzi... want to go somewhere else, darling princess?" She asked with a smirk, offering Haley her hand. Getting out of Starbucks was probably best if the two wanted to do anything seemingly normal... Haley was probably watching what she said, just in case some reporter heard her and wrote it down, twisting her words to his advantage. That was the one thing Sadie wasn't looking forward to with fame, but fame was what she wanted the most.

Haley had been to the Oscars,a few times before and seriously it was one of the best times in her life.Sure,it was stressful and there was so many commitments the days before, But she love the glitz and glamor that only LA could provide, she basked on it and could not want more of it. She just though at times, tabloids stepped over the line and just invaded her privacy. That she did not like, when she was out in public anything was fair game but her private life, she preferred if it remained private,it was her life out of the lime light after all. Haley smiled at her, "I know you would. I would love to be one to present you the award."
She sight,"You really do not know what is like at times, girly. Sure,I can get anything I want at the snap of my fingers but what is the price to pay for fame?No life?I think I would still take it over anything else, yes I am a daddy's little girl." Haley giggled at her friend as she saw sugar package being thrown her way.It was so good being able to be herself without having to put a front or even trying to hide her real emotions.
Haley smiled at Sadie as she looked around the room, she still felt all her eyes were upon her.She could not have moment of privacy even when she was drinking coffee, sure she was famous and all but this was not what she wanted, she wanted have some privacy. The girl looked at up at Sadie and held her hand "Sure, lets go; I got my Aston Martin parked outside."Hales said as her eyes were started to get watery. Haley held Sadie's hand and just sight and smile as she tried make her way out of the cafe.
