Driving in his silver Audi A6 on a busy street, Jake felt the wind blowing against his facing and brushing his hair. He had been in Los Angeles for a month but had never come to this area. He had been working small time, making cameos in some TV shows. Black sunglasses sitting coolly on his face, just above his forehead, he had stopped for a red light. His mouth was busy in chewing gum.
His life was perfect now. He had money, cars, a big house and fine clothes. Much to his dismay, he didn’t have any friends. He was also working small time and wanted to go big. Except for these two things, everything was going smooth. The song ‘Hollywood Girl’ by Drake Bell was playing in his sedan. He was fond of the song and turned up the volume. The driver seat window was lowered and he could see the friendly passer-bys.
He decided to stop at the Venice Beach. As the lights stroke green, he maneuvered the car slowly through the busy streets. Driving for a little longer, he was soon near the waterfront, looking for a place to park his Audi A6. As soon as he found a place very near to the beach, he parked his car and got out. He was attired in a white basketball jersey, a pair of shining white basketball shorts and white sneakers. He walked over to the beach and boardwalk, and looked around. What could he possibly do without any friends? He saw many people walking in groups, and thought maybe he was the only one alone. He wanted to make some friends real bad.

Work - that's all Sadie ever did. So, when she noticed how nice the weather was and decided she had enough written for that particular day she decided to close up her laptop, grab a book and head for the beach. She needed something relaxing and a nice day of sand and sun would do that for her in no time at all. She threw all of her belongings into the small car she bought when she got to California and followed the street signs to Venice Beach. Sadie hadn't been here since she got to California a couple years ago - she never gave herself enough off time to actually go and do something slightly relaxing so this was a treat.
It had been a while since she had gotten to the great Cali and the most Sadie had gotten out of her new location were a few cat calls and a few complaints about going back to her country. She laughed it all off, this wasn't New York - those comments seemed to be a bit nicer here. Maybe the New York accent made everything seem a bit more angry - and perhaps a bit more comical at the same time. Granted, there was her recent success, but the recognition she had gotten for the Sundance was only a fraction of what she really wanted - she wanted to be a household name, unlike any other screenplay writer. Everyone would remember the name Sadie Gonzales - that single thought was the reason why she hadn't taken time off for the woman behind the words but today was going to be special.
Sadie quickly parked her car and found a nice place near the water's edge - not too many shells or kids or debris. Spreading a towel out on the ground and turning on the small boombox she brought with her, the Black Eyed Peas's music drifting softly through the air. She pulled her jean skirt off, swaying her hips to the music, revealing the bottoms of her white, star adorned bikini. She sang quietly along with the song, upset that she wasn't blessed with a good singing voice.
Her eyes swept across the people that were laying around the beach as she pulled her shirt off. Sighing, she muttered to herself, "Only person that's alone.. figures." If she wanted someone to talk to she'd have to weasle in with a full group of people, which was never Sadie's way of doing things. Instead she'd spend the day reading in the sun, which wasn't that bad. She sat down on her towel and looked out at the ocean, cracking open her book - a little regretful that she wouldn't be getting a distraction just yet. But an idea for a new screenplay should be just as good - right?

Jake looked around for a little while, disappointed that he could talk to no one. He couldn’t just barge in to groups. He had been there for a while and decided to go somewhere else. He put on his shades, turned around and started to walk away. He stopped short when he saw a familiar looking face. It was some girl he saw at Renegade Studios.
He had a feeling everyone associated to Renegade Studios were popular and hung out with others most of the time. Not that he thought that girl wasn’t popular. He thought he had seen her somewhere else, other than Renegade Studios. But then again, his eyes must have been playing tricks. He pulled the shades off his face and put it back on. Now, that was a foolish move.
He strode over to her, the breeze striking up against his face. He stood a few feet away from her and his place was where she could see him clearly. He decided to talk to her but he noticed she was busy with some book. He decided to think for sometime. He tried to remember where he had seen her, but of no use. He couldn’t resist asking her. He slowly walked towards her. “Hey,” Jake said softly, hoping she wasn’t another mean girl who’d shout at him. Not that a mean girl would shout at him. But, yeah, he hoped she wasn’t angry for being disturbed. “I’ve seen you around somewhere. You were hanging out by Renegade Studios, right?” he asked.

Sadie felt someone's presence before her and looked up from her book just as she heard him ask a question. She blinked slighlty, trying to figure out what he was saying - her mind slowly adjusting from the world of the book, one of fantasy and intrigue, back to reality. She smiled when she finally made sense of the words, 'hanging out' was a bit of an understatment, "Yeah, I'm there pretty often," it was where she tried to get the majority of her work done at. She stared at the man in front of her, and then the face clicked in her mind. She had seen him before, that much was sure. "You're um... the actor... one of the newer ones," she said, snaping her fingers as she tried to think of his name.
"Don't tell me, J..." she said, holding out the letter's sound until the name popped into her head, "Jake, right?" Sadie's face lit up with a brilliant smile, proud that she could remember and put the name to the face. She offered him her hand along with a name, "I'm Sadie Gonzales... I'm a writer there." With a smirk she added, "I've heard your name slip from the writer's mouths quite a few times.. they say you have some talent." She heard he had enough talent to - with the right vehicle - launch straight into the spotlight... if only one of her scripts could be that vehicle.
But his name was dropped like a ton of other names around the sets, around the office. Guys and girls all brought up like the newest accessory, and in a way that's what they were. The actors were the accessories to the storyline that someone like Sadie made up, but they were also the cherry blossom scented body wash that polished it and made her words into something amazing. With a face like his, or a name like Haley's, Sadie's screenplays could be cleaned up and polished so much, set on a pedastal forevermore - unfortunately, though, she still needed a director and a producer before her dreams could come true. Jake had it easier, so much easier.

Jake was surprised to know that Sadie knew his name. Not many knew his name. He smiled back and shook hands with her as she introduced herself. He was a little embarrassed when Sadie said she had overheard a few writers talking about him. “Some talent I have,” Jake said with a chuckle. For a moment, he was somewhat confident that Sadie knew a lot of people around – directors, producers, other actors and stuff. Most of the writers and directors he knew would have been working right now.
He didn’t like workaholics and always had a bit of fun with the backstage crew or sometimes maybe with the director himself. “So, you’re taking a day off?” Jake asked casually. He was quite sure Sadie was here to relax, or maybe she was here to think of a scenario. He kind of knew the people who were associated with Renegade Studios. They were hard workers and the gossip blogs about them – gosh he did not want to go there.
He hadn’t seen any big town actors or musicians and he had a feeling he was seeing a writer who would be successful in the future. He hoped this wasn’t their last meet.

Sadie noticed the slight surprise that danced across Jake's features and her mind clicked. It was one thing for her to know people - she had been with Renegade long enough, even if she wasn't known all around Hollywood yet - but someone like Jake was new, still didn't have the connections Sadie had. She knew plenty of writers and directors, she knew some of the crew members as well as she knew her own name. And then the actors, as varied as they were, she knew plenty of them - hell, she was living with one of them, best friends with her. Even if Sadie wasn't exactly wasn't where she wanted to be in this world, she had the connections to get it. She could even use those connections to get Jake what he wanted - that could be a good partnership, right?
She nodded and smiled at the question, placing her book on the towel next to her. "Yup, all work and no play makes writers dull people. That's why we have so many vampire things now, too much work," she giggled. Maybe she found it more amusing than he did, but most of the writers she knew were complaining that they weren't going to write another vampire-themed show just so they could make it big - Sadie being one of those writers.
"How about you? Shouldn't you be off whoring yourself to the world or something? Trying to get some job or another?" She asked with a smile. She didn't mean to be rude, that's just how she saw the world of an actor - selling yourself to the highest bidder, sometimes despite the quality of the vehicle. Haley and Tyler were always off doing stuff, being the faces for their movies and shows, what was supposed to make Jake any different? He'd probably just do the same thing on a smaller scale.
